Semesterticket

Student referendum semester ticket - look into your student e-mail and vote now!

Dear students,

On 07th January 2025, the General Assembly (§ 8 Regulations of the Student Body) voted in favour of holding a student referendum (§ 9 Regulations of the student body).

You now have the opportunity to vote for or against the semester ticket using your personalised link (to be found in your student e-mail!). The vote runs until 28th January 2025

In this student referendum, you are voting on the abolition of the semester ticket.

If you want the semester ticket to be ABOLISHED after its introduction, vote YES.

If you would like the Semesterticket to REMAIN after its introduction, vote NO.

The semester ticket is expected to be introduced in the winter semester 2025/26. The price of the semester ticket will be 60% of the Deutschlandticket and will be subject to the conditions of the Deutschlandticket. This means that the semester ticket will allow you to use public transport throughout Germany. Since January 2025, the Deutschlandticket has cost €58 per month. The price of the semester ticket will therefore be €208.80 per semester (6 months €34.80 each). The semester fee will increase accordingly from the current €97.00 to €305.80 per semester.

The semester ticket is based on the full solidarity model, which means that the semester contribution for each student will increase by the amount of the semester ticket, regardless of their own use of the semester ticket. There will be exceptions for students on distance learning programmes, semesters on leave and semesters abroad. This means, for example, that SUUUpoRT students will not have to pay an increased semester contribution.

In addition, the price of the semester ticket is linked to that of the Deutschlandticket due to the 60% rule. Consequently, the semester contribution in Freiberg would also increase if the price of the Deutschlandticket were to rise.
